Cherry & blackberry jam🤎
A rich, naturally sweet homemade preserve. My jams are made with simple, wholesome ingredients & naturally sweetened.
A delicious addition to my baking recipes.
Total cooking time
35-45 mins
Makes
Approximately 1 medium jar (around 400-500g)
Ingredients
1 cup fresh blackberries
1 cup fresh cherries
Juice of 1 whole lemon
½ cup unrefined brown sugar
1 tbsp local, natural honey
Method
1. Prepare
Wash fruits thoroughly. Remove the cherry stones & squeeze the juice from one whole lemon.
2. Cook
Place all ingredients into a stainless steel saucepan.
Cook over a medium heat, stirring regularly until the sugar has dissolved & the fruit begins to soften.
3. Mash
Using a potato masher or fork, gently mash the fruit until it reaches your preferred consistency.
4. Reduce
Reduce the heat to low & allow the jam to simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring often to prevent it from catching.
As the fruit reduces, it will thicken into a rich, glossy jam.
5. Jar
Remove from the heat and carefully spoon the hot jam into a sterilised glass jar.
